Public firing (Booking and T&c’s)
We know you love getting your creative fix on at home/ at the studio and we are thrilled to open our kilns up for public firing & kiln hire!!
Last public firing of the year is November 15th !!
BISQUE (1000°) & stoneware (1280°) firings are available
(sorry mid-fire and earthenware lovers we just don't have the volume to accommodate these temperatures).
how it works
Read our terms and conditions
Book your firing (link at the bottom of the page)
Bring your pieces into the studio in a clearly labelled box, with your name, email, maker’s mark, number of pieces, and firing type.
Wrap your pieces well to ensure that they are protected when travelling to and from the studio - e.g. newspaper, bubble wrap, cloth etc.
Once you arrive, one of our staff members will weigh your pieces and payment will be processed upon drop off
Once your work has been fired to the chosen firing type, we will repack all of your work back into the same box. We will send out an email/ text with collection details.
We aim to fire all pieces within a two-week period. However, this isn’t always possible (our term classes and public holidays may extend turnaround times).
firing types & COSts

stoneware (1280°/ cone 9) - $12.50/kg

we do not offer earthenware, mid-fire, or a once-firing service.
All work must be completely bone dry, have no glaze close to or on the base, or cannot identify the clay and/or glaze. We can refuse to fire work if it does not meet the above standards.
If you are unsure of which firing you need or have any questions about your glazing, please feel free to ask our staff or email us.
are you firing BRT (buff raku Trachyte) or feeneys hand-building clay?
let us know if you are firing BRT, you will need to provide a cookie/ setter.
A cookie: is a small flat tile made of any other stoneware clay that has been bisque-fired prior to use.
WHAT studio glazes do you offer?
clear, white, blue, green, purple, pink, beige, yellow & grey
due to the volume of pieces we receive, we cannot offer a choice of glazing style or more than one glaze colour. We only offer this service above 4kg per drop off.
Terms & Conditions/ damages (please read)
We go out of our way to handle your creations with absolute care and aim to deliver the best results possible. However, kiln firings can be unpredictable, and things can break (we are not liable for any damage or breakage that can occur, your booking is an acceptance of these terms).
We reserve the right to refuse any pieces we deem not kiln-safe (glaze too thick, glaze on the base/ too close to the base, or not bone dry).
It is your responsibility to understand the firing process and to know which clay/ glaze you are using !! REMEMBER, WE ONLY GLAZE FIRE TO STONEWARE TEMPERATURES (STONEWARE/ 1280 DEGREES OR CONE 9).
If you put the incorrect clay into the wrong firing temperature, it can melt and damage your piece, the kiln, and other people’s work (AND COST YOU BETWEEN $25 UP TO THE VALUE OF REPLACING THE KILN).
All items for glaze firing must have no glaze 1/2 cm from the base, otherwise, we reserve the right to not fire them.
Hollow work must be pierced to avoid exploding.
We do not accept work that has a base thicker than 3cm, and pieces with cracks or fractures will not be fired.
All works not collected within 20 days of firing being completed and a message sent. All remaining works after 20 days will be disposed of - no compensation will be credited.
please read and familiarise yourself with our firing Terms and conditions (scroll up to read).
